Overview
The AFS single-tone Harmonic Balance analysis (AFS HB) is a limited-spectrum RF analysis method thats olves the circuit equations in the frequency domain. As with other limited-spectrum methods, the accuracy of the HB result is a function of the number of harmonics used in the simulation.

Benefits of HB
  • Can be faster than AFS pnoise for mild-nonlinear circuits
  • Uses either a Krylov or direct solver
  • Dynamic range can be better than shooting pnoise
Target Applications for HB
  • Circuits with mildly non-linear effects
  • Conventional mixers and high-Q circuits
  • Frequency-dependent models
  • S-parameter blocks and  transmission lines

AFS RF Specifications
AFS RF Analysis uses industry-standard netlists and models and is fully integrated into the leading EDA design environment. It produces standard output file formats and includes sophisticated post-processing and analysis capabilities.

  • Analyses:
    • Periodic analyses: HB PSS, HB pnoise
