Berkeley
Design Automation’s Analog FastSPICE and RF FastSPICE Win EDN
Magazine’s 2006 Innovation Award
Award Recognizes Breakthrough Value of Company’s
Full SPICE Accuracy and 5X-10X Performance to Electronics Industry
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — [April 4, 2007]— Berkeley Design Automation Inc.,
provider of Precision Circuit Analysis™ technology for advanced
analog and RF integrated circuits, today announced that its Analog
FastSPICE and RF FastSPICE tools have won the 17th annual EDN
“Innovation of the Year” Award. They are the first analog and RF EDA
tools to be honored with this exclusive award in five years. The award
is based on the tools’ full-SPICE accuracy, 5X to 10X performance
versus SPICE, and vastly superior DC and periodic-steady-state (PSS)
convergence.
Enabling
Critical Verification Tasks
Today’s analog and RF design teams can no longer perform many critical
verification tasks with traditional SPICE or digital fastSPICE tools
due to insufficient accuracy, performance, and capacity. Examples
include: top-level DC connectivity checks, top-level performance
simulations, verification with realistic package inductance and
transmission line effects, extensive corner case and Monte Carlo
analysis, post-layout simulation of critical sub-circuits such as PLLs
and Sigma-Delta ADCs, and periodic analysis of multi-block RF circuits.
Analog FastSPICE and RF FastSPICE enable design teams to perform such
tasks, thereby substantially reducing design time, design risk, and
overdesign.
“We are proud to be chosen as a winner of the EDN Innovation Award”,
said Ravi Subramanian, president and CEO of Berkeley Design Automation.
“Being selected for this award by the design community further
validates the value Analog FastSPICE and RF FastSPICE are bringing to
analog and RF design teams worldwide.”
About The EDN
Innovation Awards
Award winners were selected among the finalists by EDN’s worldwide
audience of electronics engineers and engineering managers. EDN’s
editorial staff and Editorial Advisory Board also take part in
determining the final winners. Instituted in 1990, the Innovation
Awards honor the people, products and technologies that have shaped the
semiconductor industry over the past year. Nominees for the Innovator
of the Year category must have demonstrated innovation that resulted in
a significant advance in technology and/or product development during
the past 12 months.
